The new Symbol MC35 also features a full QWERTY keyboard which make this Symbol phone looks very similar to Motorola Q-series PDA phone. Features and specifications wise, the Symbol MC35 PDA phone is fantastic as it not only running on GSM/EDGE networks, but also support Wi-Fi and Bluetooth wireless networks. Besides that, the MC35 also supports GPS feature

Talking about hardware specifications, the Symbol MC35 is powered by an Intel XScale PXA270 processor with clock speed of 416MHz with internal memory of 126MB and 64MB cache. The MC35 also features a big 2.8″ 65536 colors QVGA screen, 2.0-MP digital camera that can scan bar code.

In short, the Symbol MC35 PDA phone is a strong challenger for BlackBerry PDA. However, the MC35 raises a question whether Motorola will continue pushing for Motorola Q series PDA phones in the future as the Symbol MC35 seems like a better replacement for Motorola Q PDA.

Of corse this smartphone is usefull for any kind of student, i hope i can buy one of it in november, when ill go to Miami.

A great option for students, HP iPAQ rx4240 Mobile Media Companion!

18 05 2007

As everybody knows is not so easy for many people, specially students, to buy a notebook to use at school or collage (Here im Brazil is harder) but nowadayas we have a great option, Pocket Pcs, they have great processors and great screens too what allows you to listen to hi quality music and also to see movies, you can even write and take notes at school, record the classes, almost everything that you do with a laptop with some limitations, but with a low cost.

fa782aa_4001.jpg

Again I´m going to talk about a HP product, yes I really like HP (I have a HP notebook and a iPAQ), there is a new iPAQ called rx4240, it has a great design which allows to use it like a mp3 player when you are going to the school, or watch a movie inside the bus or train, you can even use the internet surfing on web, writting e-mails or talking on MSN with wireless technology. And what about using at school? At school iPAQ cames with the Premium edition of Windows Mobile 5.0 for Pocket PC, which includes versions of familiar Microsoft programs like Word editors, Excell and Power-Point. You will be able to Create and edit documents with Word Mobile and Excel Mobile and Practice presentations with PowerPoint Mobile, if you have a digital camera you can even take shoots when you don´t fell like coping something and send to your iPAQ by bluetooth (of corse if your camera has bluetooth), or send to your desktop at home and after send to your iPAQ, is useable to study (record important topics) fews minuts before a test specially laboratory tests.

I really recommend who can´t afford a laptop to try a Pocket PC, doesn´t need to buy this HP one, buy another one, i used a iPAQ rx3115 two years at college and it really worthed, with time you get accustomed writting with that pen in touch screen or you can buy a keyboard (bluetoth, wireless or IR) it will resolve any problem. I used a lot to take notes and to study in the trajetory to college and in  free time i used to listen to my mp3 and play some games.

The Dragon, a powered laptop for entertainment by Hewlett-Packard

18 05 2007

Once again HP showed why they are the world’s largest computer vendor (according to research group Gartner). They announced their new laptop called Dragon (so you can imagine that it´s breath fire). This new laptop is in the HP Pavilion series (model The Pavilion HDX) it´s expected to be on market by July 25, it includes an HD DVD reader and DVD burner as well as a 5-in-1 media card reader, 802.11n wireless, Bluetooth and surround-sound speakers. And also includes 2 Gb of memory and 240Gb HD. There is even a removable remote control that lets you pick shows to watch (and HD DVD movies) and record as well as skip through music and video. The built-in battery will last about two hours on one charge.

It´s not a mobile laptop, but can be used at home to watch tv, play and to work, getting the desktop place and making more.

I think its not exactly a laptop for students, probably it´s for the more fortunately (Dragon can certanitly decorate anywhere)  and kind of geeks that prefer to have only one equipament at room.

Mandriva Linux 2007

17 05 2007

Linux on the desktop, this is what  the fusion between the Brazillian Connectiva and the Francese Mandriva did. Mandriva Linux 2007 is one of the best linux for desktop, if you are an ordinary user (not advanced) or you are interested in using Linux because its free, or maybe you are not happy with Windows you really should try  Mandriva Linux.

mandrivapro2007.jpg

The new version Mandriva Linux Spring is very beautiful, and has a desktop, theme and colors like Windows. For advanced users it is the worsiest thing that a linux distribution could do, but for beginner it is amazing, making this OS changing easier.  Different from others Linux distributions Mandrika has lot of drivers and identify almost all hardwares, like Plug&Play.

The most curious thing is that it is the first OS that is being selled in a pen drive. So you can take your OS, your files, softwares and games wherever your go. You´ll need just a PC even if it doesn´t have a HD, or cd drive.

I´m not a Linux expert but thinking in students that hardlyever has money to expend in softwares, linux could be a good choice, for example I have  a notebook, it was hard to buy (I had to work a lot) but it cames with a original Windows, so I got all the OpenSources Softwares that I could find and saved some money. But if I had gotten it without OS I certaintly would have taken a Linux distribution, in the past Linux was just for geeks, persons who really like to use black screens with lots of codes (actually i used like this in the past, but i wouldn´t indicate it to anybody), but nowadays it is seems like a modern and easy using OS, what is making it more usefull and well-known.

I advice to everybody try at least once to use linux, it is a very good OS and is free, been a very good option for students.
